Delivery Union was formed as a new and alternative way for businesses to send goods via a more cost effective and environmentally friendly way.

The premise of our idea is for different courier and delivery companies to bid on a specific delivery we have been offered, and for the best value company to pick up the item, or items, and deliver it. This cuts costs to the customers allowing them to get the best deal and also allows a ‘greener’ approach as we encourage delivery companies within the local area to bid on the item or items to be picked up, thus meaning less travel involved for the courier, and the package or goods would be placed on vehicles that already have a local delivery schedule, and will only need to deviate from this schedule slightly to deliver the specified goods. This in turn means there are less half laden or almost empty vehicles making deliveries and instead the empty spaces on delivery vehicles are optimised and maximised, meaning one vehicle can do the job instead of several smaller delivery runs, thus fewer emissions from fewer vehicles on the roads.
